Both Nicole and I have experimented with cooking and baking with yogurt in the past, but it has always been very minimal. Yogurt just doesn’t feel like an ingredient that we would turn to for everyday cooking. Our perspective on this certainly changed upon receiving the Yogurt Every Day cookbook by Hubert Cormier. As a nutritionist and dietitian, he somehow managed to create 75 recipes spanning from breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and snacks all of which incorporate yogurt. It almost seems like an impossible task to incorporate yogurt into so many varied recipes, but he does an excellent job of keeping the recipes interesting and most importantly healthy.
Introduction & Overview
As a nutritionist and dietitian by trade, Hubert was working on his PhD when he was asked if he would be interested in writing a paper on yogurt consumption and cardiometabolic risk factors. The results showed that those who ate yogurt had a better prudent dietary score than those who didn’t and so the fascination with yogurt began.
He notes that when preparing and cooking recipes with yogurt, you can increase your protein intake, and reduce fat content, without loss of taste or texture. All of his recipes are healthy and nutritional information is included.
Following the introduction, we are shown a quick history of yogurt, its main health benefits and ways of substituting yogurt for everyday ingredients. Examples range from yogurt mayo, to sour cream, ice cream, cream cheese and so much more. The substitution chart alone is something that we will be referring to moving forward as it now makes it straightforward to see just how easy it can go into recipes for dips, pies, soups, baking and so forth.
The cookbook features more than 75 recipes that span breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert, as well as some amazing snack ideas that incorporate yogurt into all of them. He also has a whole section dedicated to showing you “The Basics” for making your own yogurt at home.
The entire cookbook is structured beautifully with easy to read and follow recipes. Each recipe has image icons that clearly tell you the serving size, prep time, and cooking time. And the photography….just wow! Everything looks so incredibly appetizing that we could hardly get through the whole book before we found a few recipes that we just had to make right away.
In “The Basics” section of the book, we are introduced to various methods of preparing yogurt at home. Everything from regular yogurt (13), yogurt using your slow cooker (17), coconut yogurt (18) and of course, strained Greek yogurt (19). He makes it look so easy, and we will definitely be trying the slow cooker version in the future!
From there we are taken to the other sections of the book that include ways to incorporate yogurt into every meal. The ones that stood out the most for us by section include the following:

How amazing do these recipes sound, right?! And to think that they are healthy as well, is just incredible. We absolutely LOVE this book! Hubert does such an outstanding job showing us how to sneak this healthy ingredient into everyday meals, which is exactly what Sneaky Mommies is all about.
