If you haven’t heard of golden milk yet, take note, as this drink is rising in popularity for all the right reasons. This warm turmeric based latte, perfect for the cold weather to cozy up with has extraordinary health benefits to help keep you and your family feeling well this year. But first, what is golden milk? Golden Milk is an ancient Southeast Asian drink using turmeric with a long history of medicinal benefits. Not only is it good for you, but it taste delicious too, making it easy to replace your coffee or tea with.
Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties, which are suppose to help with headaches and migraines. This is why this drink first appealed to me, as I am a chronic migraine sufferer. So I am always looking for natural ways to control my symptoms and turmeric has always been one of my remedies. I take it in pill form, cook with it, and now enjoy it in golden milk. There are so many other health benefits from golden milk which uses turmeric and ginger, so I will quickly list a few more.
Great for digestion: Turmeric helps fight gas, bloating, and indigestion, while ginger, is great at fighting upset stomachs.
Relieves Joint and Muscle pain: Turmeric’s anti-inflammatory properties will help relieve joint and muscle pain, so great as a post workout drink.
Helps prevent cold and flu: Ginger has natural antimicrobial properties which help protect your body from respiratory infections.
These are just a few of many benefits from this tasty drink. Try golden milk with your family at home, even the children. The recipe calls for cayenne as an optional ingredient. So I usually only add that to my own, as my daughter doesn’t like the spice.

- 2 cups coconut or almond milk
- 1 tablespoon turmeric
- ¼ teaspoon ginger
- 2 teaspoons honey
- 1 cinnamon stick
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne (optional)
- Whisk ingredients together in a small pot over medium heat and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 2 minutes. Enjoy!
